MACD performs best in trending markets, not sideways ones.
In ranging or low-volatility conditions, MACD often gives false signals — crossovers that quickly reverse.

To avoid this trap:

Use higher timeframes (H1 and above).

Combine MACD with ADX or volume indicators to confirm trend strength.

Always check for price consolidation zones before acting on crossovers.
